Adv. KP Muhammed Shareef
Malappuram: This is the first time Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) faces a major election in Kerala after its formation just a year ago. And the party is all set to prove its mettle in the local body election to be held on 23 and 25 of next month. It has decided to field its own candidates where ever possible posing a big threat to the United Democratic Front (UDF) under the Congress and Left Democratic Front (LDF) under CPM.
As the Kerala politics is concerned this election will mark for the rising of a new star in its horizon, said Adv. K P Muhammed Shareef, president of SDPI Kerala.
We will prove that our party is a strong presence in the state politics that can not be ignored any more. We will finalize the decision on candidates before 26 of this month, he added while speaking at a news conference at Malappuram press club here.
Where there are no candidates of SDPI, our workers will choose people friendly candidates. The party's support to others will be based on their policies. He also said that prior to the election SDPI leaders have met like minded people and parties regarding the possible tie-ups. When asked about the chance of making electoral understating with Janakeeya Munnani under Jamaath-e-Islami, he replied that it had no faith in a party that was existed only in posters. SDPI has same approach towards Muslim League, Congress and CPM. Party will continue its opposition to the BJP which is antinational, he added.
SDPI has got 30,000 cadres within the short span of time after the formation and it has sympathizers that come more than 30 million, he said.
