SDPI - The New Political Outfit Capable to Conquer Indian Political Horizon
Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has emerged on the political horizon of India With the objective of working for the empowerment of "marginalised groups" like Muslims, Dalits, tribals, women to construct a fearless, socially secure and equitable India, the dream of our nation builders
SDPI has announced in a Press conference at Press Club of India on 29th July 2009 in Delhi & Satate Committees are being established in almost all States of the Country
The party is being backed by the Popular Front of India (PFI), a confederation of minority organisations active in southern India, particularly Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.In the Press conference SDPI president E. Abubacker said the announcement of this national level political party is endorsement of the Calicut Declaration and follow up of the National Political Conference held in Calicut in February this year.
He said that the new political party would be purely a rationalist party, with the weaker sections forming the core constituents. Critical of the national parties, the Congress and the BJP, he felt that the neo-liberal economic policies, under their respective governments encouraged few capitalists of the country in amassing the wealth. While the Left parties, had inclined towards neo-liberalism, also compromised over their ideology and had similar outlook like any other right wing organisation.
“The neo-liberal economy was proving to be disastrous for the two thirds of the farming community and hindering the development among the Muslims, Dalits, tribals, women and other weaker sections”.
Well-orchestrated attacks against Muslims have taken its toll in the form of loss of property, life and self-respect. The demolition of historic Babri Mosque in 1992 and the notorious Gujarat genocide in 2002 revealed the biased nature of the ruling class in the country and compounding the austerity of the minorities, which could be studied by the fact of their working conditions. The state of Muslims and Dalits are similar in nature, who face bias in every field, Mr Abubakr said.
To add fuel to the fire, the government has poor human rights record on handling the issues related with these communities. Thanks to the neglect by the police department, which is considered as the most corrupt department in the country. Besides, the fascist trends in the name of ‘Hindutva’ were causing huge damage to the integrity of the country.
The country like India, which is under the illusion of being a sovereign state, was being used as a tool by the USA, in the name of fighting terrorism, he opined.
The party national president said that keeping all these facts in mind, the Muslims with secular credentials have come up with an idea of establishing an independent political party in February 2009 conclave in Kerala, which aims at the uplift of the weaker sections of the society. With this same objective, the party will be organising the meeting of representatives on October 18.
To a question, SDPI Officials denied that it is a party for Muslims and said it will be an endevour covering all states and will include"all marginalised classes"
