  • SDPI to contest civic polls in Madhya Pradesh

Social Democratic Party of India, (SDPI), Madhya Pradesh unit will contest the ensuing civic elections in the state to be held in December this year.

This was decided at the party’ first state executive body meeting held here on Friday. The meeting was presided over by the state president of SDPI Advocate Sajid Siddiqui, who also happens to be the national vice president of the party. The national general secretary of the party A. Sayeed and Central Coordinator CP Muhammad Ali also attended the meeting as special invitees.

A sub-committee has been formed to screen suitable candidates for the civic elections. The sub-committee members are: Adv. Sajid Siddiqui, Khan Bahadur Khan, Abdul Rauf and Irfanullah Khan.

According to Adv. Siddiqui it was also decided to strengthen the party in the state for which Divisional in-charges have been appointed who will look into ways and means to broad-base the party in the state. Training programmes would also be organized for cadres in the state, he informed.

It may be mentioned here that SDPI was formed to realize a social order and political system based on the Constitutional ideals of justice, equality, liberty and fraternity. The SDPI was officially constituted on June 21 this year in New Delhi and was formally launched a month later on July 29.

The manifesto, released last month in New Delhi at the first delegates meet of the party, has called for the empowerment of all marginalised sections of the society by mobilizing themselves into a political force, instead of remaining as mere vote banks of different political parties in elections. It has demanded balanced representation of all social groups in legislatures and all administrative bodies nominated by government, in proportion to their population.

For SDPI social democracy is the belief that it is the basic duty of any administration worth its salt to ensure equitable distribution of the nation's resources through state intervention without stifling private entrepreneurship and initiative.
