Puttur: Attack on SDPI candidate
Puttur, May 18: A Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) candidate who contested the Grama Panchayat elections held recently was attacked by two persons at Mukwe, Puttur on Tuesday, May 18.
The victim has been identified as Siraj (22), a resident of Mukwe. The incident reportedly occured when he was opening his furniture shop at Mukwe after having lunch.
The assaulters have been identified as Hareesh and Laxmana. The locals caught Hareesh on the spot of the attck with his bike and handed over to the Puttur police. Laxmana managed to escape.
The locals suspected that it was a murder attempt.
Meanwhile, Siraj has been admitted to Mahaveer hospital, Puttur.
A case has been registered at Puttur police station. The police have filed an attempt to murder case against Hareesha under Section 307 of the Criminal Proceedure Code.
