  • SDPI won 68 seats & to hold power in two Gram Panchayat in Karnataka

    Manglore, May 19: Social Democratic Party of India has won 68 seats in Gram Panchayat polls which held in Karnataka on 8th and 12th May.

    365 SDPI Candidates were in the fray for Gram Panchayat election and 68 of them won the contest while more than 100 candidates managed to retain second place after a close contest.

    In Dakshin Kannada SDPI had contested for 273 seats and bagged the victory in 39 seats. Two Independent candidates announced their support to the party. BJP and Congress party’s had been faced a huge competition from SDPI and 62 of SDPI candidates lost the contest in close margin.

    In Udupi SDPI bagged 13 seats out of 31 and gave a close contest for 12 seats. It won 9 seats in Coorg where 31 candidates of the party were in the fray and 10 of them retained second place. In Tumkur SDPI set victory for 4 seats out of 9 and won one each seats in Ram Nagar, Hunsur, Hasan.

    SDPI backed candidates won the election with majority in Bedagotta Gram Panchayat of Coorg District. It is fact that in some places of Dakshin Kannada SDPI is king maker, where support of SDPI is decisive, he added.

    SDPI, which was formed in October 2009, is getting a huge support from the people within a short period of time. After Independence, from last 60 years Dalits, Minorities and other deprived classes of the society remained back ward and the party aimed to edify these sections of the society. Political parties have pawned the country in to capitalist and imperialist forces and ignoring the poor and backward classes. In the same time SDPI aimed to empowerment of all these sections. In Karnataka SDPI has debuted with Gram Panchayat election and would be emerged as a pro people political party in the future.

    Majeed Kodlipete, Karnataka State President of SDPI, said, SDPI would hold a felicitation program for elected candidates and its workers in Town Hall, Manglore on May 25th. National and State level leaders of the party would be present in the program.
