  • Jana Kerala Yathra Enters Palakkad District

    Padinjarangadi: Jana Kerala Yathra led by Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) entered Palakkad district today after the two day long journey through Malppuram district. Hundreds of people waited at Neeliyattu, Padinjarangadi along the two sides of the road, to welcome the Yathra.
    Jana Kerala Yathra, flagged off from Kasarkode on 2nd of this month, has already become the household name in the areas it covered. Thousands of people, especially from backward-minority communities, gathered at reception points. People in every walks of the society are showing great interest and enthusiasm to receive the Yathra and give ear t the slogans it raises.
     ‘Jana Kerala Yathra’ organised by Social Democratic Party of India was flagged off at a largely-attended public function at Hosangady Kasarkode on Friday evening, creating a new wave of enthusiasm and confidence among backward sections of the society. National vice president of the party Advocate Sajid Hussain Siddeeqi handed over the party flag to the captain of the Yathra, M K Manoj, State General Secretary of SDPI.
    Assign lands for landless, Put an end to atrocities against Dalits and Adivasis, Stop police terror against minorities, Restore reservation policy in the constitution, Take action on Mishra Commission report are the main slogans being raised in the Jana Kerala Yathra.
    The play ‘Bharath Café’ being staged as part of the Yathra got big applause from the audience. The short play dealing with contemporary issues like state terrorism in the name of war on terror and Maoist hunt has become a crowd puller at reception points.
    Yathra will conclude in Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital, on 24.
