SDPI’s Jan Kerala Yatra becomes a hit in North Kerala
Kozhikode: Jan Kerala Yatra led by Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has drawn the attention of the people in northern Kerala within first week of its start from Kasarkode. It has become a topic of talk here for last couple of days. People in every walks of the society are showing great inetrest and enthusiasm to receive the Yatra and to listen the slogans it is raising.
On the sixth day of the Yatra it re entered Kozhikode district after the journey through Wayanad district. Today the Yatra was accorded warm welcome at Eengappuzha, Thamarassery, Koduvalli, Mukkam, Kuttikkattoor and Kundamangalam. After receptions at Vellayil and Mathottam the Yatra will conclude at Ramanatukara for today at 8pm. It will continue its journey through Malappuram district tomorrow.
Jan Kerala Yatra got grand receptions at various points in Kasarkode, Kannur, Wynadu and Kozhikode districts during last six days. Hundreds of people waited for long at each and every reception centers.
Hundreds of people gathered to receive the members of the Jan Kerala Yatra were a clear indication of the many such cheerful receptions that lies ahead, till the march concludes in Thiruvananthapuram on 24th of this month.
In Wynadu district Jan Kerala Yatra had struck a special chord with Adivasi people. They received the members of Yatra in traditional way. They gave memorandum to the leaders of SDPI demanding their support for their agitation for the sake of land.
‘Jan Kerala Yatra’ organised by Social Democratic Party of India was flagged off at a largely-attended public function atHosangady Kasarkode on Friday evening, creating a new wave of enthusiasm and confidence among backward sections of the society. National vice president of the party Advocate Sajid Hussain Siddeeqi handed over the party flag to the captain of the Yatra, M K Manoj, State General Secretary, SDPI.
Distribute lands for landless, Put an end to atrocities against Dalits and Adivasis, Stop police terror against minorities, Restore reservation policy in the constitution, Take action on Mishra Commission report are the main slogans being raised in the Jan Kerala Yatra.
The play ‘Bharath Café’ being staged as part of the Yatra got big applause from the audience. The short play dealing with contemporary issues like state terrorism in the name of war on terror and Maoist hunt has become a crowd puller at reception points.
The conference at Hosangadi was inaugurated by Kamal Akthar MP, Leader of Samajwadi Party (SP). Muslims were become more amd more backward during the rule Congress party, he said. It’s time to fight on our own for our rights waiting for nobody to come to our rescue. Now the Muslim league is has almost become a Soniya league, he said assuring that the Samajwadi Party will work in association with the SDPI.
