  • SDPI joins Gregory Patrao’s hunger strike

    Mangalore, June 28: The district unit of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) on Monday, June 28, joined the indefinite hunger strike being staged by Gregory Patrao, and his family from June 17, demanding justice, in front the office of Deputy Commissioner, here in Mangalore

    Every day organisations have been staging protest supporting Patraos one by one. On Sunday as many as 40 villagers from Polali and Ammembala resorted to hunger strike for Gregory’s cause.

    SDPI activists, who have already extended support for the anti-SEZ struggle of Gregory Patrao, sat with the frustrated family on Monday morning and shouted slogans against the State Government, Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board, Mangalore Special Economic Zone and MRPL.

    Haneef Khan Kodaje, President, DK District Committee of SDPI, Alfons Franco, Vice-President, Muhammad Nasir, General Secretary, Abdul Azeez Thumbe, Ibrahim Bolar were present among the protesters.

    Meanwhile Patraos, whose hunger strike entered 12th day today, said that they will not retreat from their struggle until they get back all their land acquired by the KIADB.
